2024 January: Preparedness Inventory – Inventario de Preparación

Happy New Year Gilbert Stake!

As we start a new year, let’s do some self-inventory as a stake. Take some time this month to look at your preparedness in perhaps a different way. This is a great family activity with all kinds of possibilities. We invite each member of our stake to do an inventory of temporal and spiritual needs.

For spiritual preparedness, you may ask yourself these (or any other) questions:

1. How am I strengthening my spiritual foundation daily? Is it sufficient?
2. How are we strengthening our spiritual foundation as a family daily? Is it sufficient?

For temporal preparedness you may discuss and review your food storage as a family. This month take an inventory of what you have, and what each family member uses throughout each day, and how often or how much is used. Do this for at least a week, but 2  weeks would be best for a better idea of what is being used. Feel free to go longer for an even better idea.

Although it should be included, this is more than just food. Think in terms of personal hygiene, cleaning supplies, gas in the car(s), sandwich bags, diapers, baby formula, medication, finances, etc. (Don’t forget your pets!) Anything that is used by anyone during the inventory period. Having 800 pounds of wheat in the garage and under beds is fantastic, but if that’s not what you use on a daily basis, it falls very short of what you actually need.

Al comenzar un nuevo año, hagamos un autoinventario como apuesta. Tómate un tiempo este mes para analizar tu preparación quizás de una manera diferente. Esta es una gran actividad familiar con todo tipo de posibilidades. Invitamos a cada miembro de nuestra estaca a hacer un inventario de las necesidades temporales y espirituales.

Para estar preparado espiritualmente, puede hacerse estas (o cualquier otra) pregunta:

• ¿Cómo estoy fortaleciendo mi base espiritual diariamente? ¿Es suficiente?
• ¿Cómo estamos fortaleciendo nuestra base espiritual como familia diariamente?
• ¿Es suficiente? 

Para estar preparados temporalmente, pueden discutir y revisar su almacenamiento de alimentos como familia. Este mes haz un inventario de lo que tienes y de lo que cada miembro de la familia usa a lo largo de cada día, y con qué frecuencia o cuánto lo usa. Haga esto durante al menos una semana, pero lo mejor sería 2 semanas para tener una mejor idea de lo que se está utilizando. Siéntase libre de continuar para tener una idea aún mejor.

Aunque debería incluirse, se trata de algo más que comida. Piense en términos de higiene personal, artículos de limpieza, gasolina en el(los) auto(s), bolsas para sándwiches, pañales, fórmula para bebés, medicamentos, finanzas, etc. (¡No olvide a sus mascotas!) Cualquier cosa que sea utilizada por cualquier persona durante el inventario. período. Tener 800 libras de trigo en el garaje y debajo de las camas es fantástico, pero si eso no es lo que usas a diario, es muy inferior a lo que realmente necesitas.
