2025 March Preparedness – Time to Plant

The Gilbert Stake will not be having a preparedness fair in 2025. We are excited to announce our stake is partnering with the surrounding stakes in Gilbert for a much larger fair in the first quarter of 2026. This is in the very beginning of the planning stages, so stay tuned for more information throughout the year.

Another thing you might want to consider as you plant is what plants compliment other plants. These are referred to as “companion plants.” Attached is a list of some vegetables and what other herbs, vegetables and flowers grow well with them and why. As you work on preparedness and food storage, remember these words from Elder David A. Bednar: “Additional aspects of a spiritual foundation for temporal preparedness include acting ‘in wisdom and order’ [Mosiah 4:27], which implies a gradual buildup of food storage and savings over time, as well as embracing ‘small and simple’ means [Alma 37:6], which is a demonstration of faith that the Lord will magnify our small but consistent efforts.”
