So\, you may be asking yourselves\, “what’s the next step?” The next step is to make a needed change. If there is more than one area you feel could be strengthened\, choose one and work on it. Take baby steps if needed. The most important thing is to do something. \nThe other topic was to review your food storage by what you actually use. Keep the list you developed handy and use it to plan. Now\, instead of just buying what you need for the week\, or 2 weeks\, buy a couple of extra items to put on the shelf for future use. By doing this\, you won’t be going crazy and breaking the bank. Pretty soon you will have built a nice pantry of supplies. \nHere is a suggestion to help build your storage in February: \n\nWeek 1: Juices: lemon\, orange\, grapefruit or powdered juices\nWeek 2: Peanut butter… get creamy and/or crunchy. (substitutions are ok if there are health issues) Don’t forget dehydrated butter\nWeek 3: Solid vegetable shortening and/or oils (vegetable\, corn\, canola\, olive\, peanut\, sesame)\nWeek 4: Personal products: Soap\, deodorant\, shampoo\, lotion\, shaving supplies\, feminine products\, toothbrushes\, etc.\n\nFebruary is also a great month to start planning for your spring and summer garden. If you have never had a garden\, start with something small and only put in vegetables that you actually like. If you like zucchini and have never grown it before\, one plant is probably more than sufficient. It is a heavy producer and one plant will normally meet all your personal needs and those of your neighbors. \nGardening can be fun and it helps you get connected to Mother Earth. Si nunca has tenido un huerto\, empieza con algo pequeño y pon sólo las verduras que realmente te gusten. Si te gusta el calabacín y nunca lo has cultivado antes\, probablemente una planta sea más que suficiente. Es un gran productor y una planta normalmente cubrirá todas sus necesidades personales y las de sus vecinos. \nLa jardinería puede ser divertida y te ayuda a conectarte con la Madre Tierra.
