We hope and pray your journey in living providently is progressing each month. \nFor those that put gardens in\, the harvest may have already begun for some of the fruits and vegetables. If it looks like you will have more than you can readily use\, what will you do with the extra? Now is the time to make those preparations. Of course\, you can share your bounty with family\, friends and neighbors. It has been our experience that some of our friends and neighbors can only use so much and then they are maxed out. So\, if you have not already planned for it\, consider home canning. This is great so you can utilize the fruits and vegetables\, harvested in their season\, in the coming months and even years. \nFor those interested\, but don’t know how\, here is a great article on how to home can. It really is easier than you think. \nhttps://www.allrecipes.com/article/how-to-can-food/ \nIf you’re still a bit nervous about it\, we’re sure you can find someone in your ward that will help you. Those that are already set up to home can\, it is a good idea to check your equipment and supplies ahead of time. If you will be pressure canning\, make sure to check the seal in your lid to make sure it is in good shape. \nWe had access to a family members peach tree that was loaded with early peaches. So\, we washed\, pitted them and juiced them. Now we have yummy peach juice on our shelf along with the apple and grape juice. What to do with the left over pulp after juicing? Well after a brief whip in the blender we now have peach sauce next to our apple sauce. The juice and the sauce were processed in a water bath canner. \nProvident living is two sided\, temporal and spiritual. We need to strive to stay balanced between both aspects. Elder Robert D. When we live providently\, we can provide for ourselves and our families and also follow the Savior’s example to serve and bless others.” \n“Becoming Provident Providers Temporally and Spiritually” (Ensign\, May. 2009) \n  \nTo help in your quest to follow the Prophets council\, here are suggestions to help build your storage in June: \n\nWeek 1: Safety week: Matches\, flashlight\, and dated batteries\, Don’t forget child-proof home devices also.\nWeek 2: Freeze-a-cheese: Grate and bag a whole 5 pounds. Use in casseroles and soups. Also by parmesan.\nWeek 3: Condiments: Mustard\, ketchup\, relish\, mayo\, Worcestershire pickles\, olives\, soy sauce\, salad dressings.\nWeek 4: White sales: Buy a thermal blanket\, some new pillows\, or new sheets. Buy a new sleeping bag or a tent.\n\nDon’t forget to weed and mulch your garden. Mulch will help the garden retain moisture longer and will be really helpful while it’s hot outside. This is greatly appreciated so that we can plan for our volunteers. \nThere is no age limit for our volunteers.
