SUMMARY:2025 July Preparedness
DESCRIPTION:Hello Gilbert Stake! \nSpiritual Preparedness blended with Temporal Preparedness: \nElder Ballard\, in a 2014 conference talk spoke of “Family Councils”. Here are a couple of highlights from that talk: \n“Until now\, however\, I have never talked in general conference about the most basic and fundamental—and perhaps the most important—of all councils: the family council. Family councils have always been needed. They are\, in fact\, eternal. We belonged to a family council in the premortal existence\, when we lived with our heavenly parents as their spirit children.” \n“The Church pamphlet entitled Our Family states\, “This council can meet to discuss family problems\, work out finances\, make plans\, support and strengthen [each other]\, and pray for one another and for the family unit.” \nFamily Councils: With Elder Ballard’s council in mind\, a great topic for a family council is a Family Emergency Communication Plan. Here are some thoughts from www.ready.gov for each member of the family to consider: \n“What if something happens and I’m not with my family?” \n“Will I be able to reach them?” \n“How will I know they are safe?” \n“How can I let them know I’m OK?” \n“During a disaster\, you will need to send and receive information from your family. Communication networks\, such as mobile phones and computers\, could be unreliable during disasters\, and electricity could be disrupted. Planning in advance will help ensure that all the members of your household—including children and people with disabilities and others with access and functional needs\, as well as outside caregivers—know how to reach each other and where to meet up in an emergency.” \nThere’s more at: Create Your Family Emergency Communication Plan \nAnd lots of information on the church website: Disaster Planning \nfamily_communication_plan_cards_blank \nShare this:\n Share on Facebook (Opens in new window)\n Facebook\n \n Share on X (Opens in new window)\n X\n \n Share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)\n LinkedIn\n \n Share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)\n WhatsApp\n \n Email a link to a friend (Opens in new window)\n Email\n \n Print (Opens in new window)\n Print
