DESCRIPTION:Hello Gilbert Stake! \nLast month we had an amazing Preparedness Fair. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. There were a lot of topics to investigate and learn from. We invite you to continue investigating the topics\, which can be found here: https://gilbertprepared.org  and apply them so they can help you in your efforts to follow the council of prophets to be self-sufficient and prepared. Here is some council from President Nelson: \n“My dear brothers and sisters\, these are the latter days. If you and I are to withstand the forthcoming perils and pressures\, it is imperative that we each have a firm spiritual foundation built upon the rock of our Redeemer\, Jesus Christ. So I ask each of you\, how firm is your foundation? And what reinforcements to your testimony and understanding of the gospel are needed? … We Have been promised that “if we are prepared we shall not fear.” This assurance has profound implications today. The Lord has declared that despite today’s unprecedented challenges\, those who build their foundations upon Jesus Christ\, and have learned how to draw upon His power\, need not succumb to the unique anxieties of this era.” –  The Temple and Your Spiritual Foundation” (Liahona\, Nov. 2021\, 93-96) \nTo help in your quest to follow the Prophets council\, here are suggestions to help build your storage in April: \n\nWeek 1: 72 Hour Kit Week. Start it\, update it\, or complete it…just do something. Be sure to check clothing sizes.\nWeek 2: Powdered milk (instant non-fat): 40 ounces will make 5 gallons. Get what your family will need and drink.\nWeek 3: Assemble an emergency sewing kit: thread\, pins\, needles\, buttons\, snaps\, zippers\, tape measure\, etc.\nWeek 4: Pasta: don’t forget the macaroni and cheese! Spaghetti\, macaroni\, egg noodles.\n\nHopefully\, during the month of March you were able to plan your garden and plant. If not\, don’t despair! It may be too late to plant seeds\, but you still have time to get some plants from a nursery and plant them. \nDid you know some vegetables and herbs like to be by each other? This is called companion planting. Here is a link to a website that talks about this subject. There are a lot of adds\, but the information is good. Or you can search it out on your own. \nCompanion Planting Chart and Guide for Vegetable Gardens (thespruce.com) \nGardening can be fun as a family\, and it helps you get connected to Mother Earth. We are always amazed at how much food one plant can provide. Remember\, don’t go so big with your garden that is becomes a major burden and an object of contempt. \nNeed help with any or all of these topics\, no problem. Just reach out to your ward’s Preparedness Specialist. Recuerde\, no exagere tanto con su jardín que se convierta en una carga importante y en un objeto de desprecio. \nNecesita ayuda con alguno o todos estos temas\, no hay problema. Simplemente comuníquese con el especialista en preparación de su barrio. DESCRIPTION:We have Bingo on our memory care unit every Tuesday from 10-11 …and each Friday from 10-11 and 3-4.  We would love to have volunteers from our community come and call out the numbers.  You will have so much fun as our residents LOVE Bingo.  You are welcome to bring older kids with you that are able to help you call out the numbers. \nWhen you arrive please come to either the Apple or Almond home and ring the bell.  Arriving 5 minutes early is helpful. These courses are open to any youth or young adults who live anywhere in the North America Southwest area and will cater specifically to students with adapted needs. \nIndividuals or parents can register for the class using THIS LINK. Participation is entirely over Zoom.
